Some weddings feel like a statement. Others feel like a whisper that stays with you long after. This San Sebastian wedding was both.
Josh & Kyle — a Jewish couple from America— chose Spain for one of the most meaningful days of their lives. Not for spectacle, but for atmosphere. For food, culture, light, and that quiet confidence San Sebastián has when it doesn’t try too hard to impress (because it doesn’t need to).
The wedding took place in a truly unique location – a summer camp site usually reserved for children’s holidays. This setting gave the entire day an unmistakable oldschool vibe – wooden cabins, nature all around, and a nostalgic charm that perfectly matched the character of analog film wedding photography.
Let me take you back
Josh & Kyle’s wedding was deeply personal — rooted in Jewish traditions, yet lived in a way that felt completely natural and modern.
Guests wore kippahs, the ceremony ended with the breaking of the glass, and later came one of the most joyful moments of the day: the Hora — the traditional chair dance. Being right there, in the middle of it, moving with them, laughing, trying to keep balance while capturing the moment — it felt less like photographing and more like being part of the celebration itself.
What made it even stronger was how many friends traveled from the US and Canada to be there. At moments, it honestly felt like a red carpet scene — everyone looked incredible, confident, dressed with intention, celebrating love loudly and unapologetically.
The evening seamlessly blended into the local culture. A Basque-style feast followed, with traditional seafood dishes, including small fish carefully prepared and deboned by hand — watching local women patiently remove tiny bones with tweezers felt like a quiet ritual of its own.
This wedding didn’t choose between tradition and experience. It honored both. And that’s exactly where San Sebastián shines — allowing heritage, culture, and modern celebration to exist side by side.
From a San Sebastian wedding photographer point of view, this city offers something rare: contrast.
Soft natural light meets bold architecture. Intimate moments unfold against dramatic backdrops. Everything feels cinematic, but never forced.
This wedding wasn’t about posed perfection. It was about connection — between the couple, their guests, and the space they chose. Capturing it meant staying observant, quiet, and ready. The real magic happened in between.
A destination wedding in Spain only works when the right people are involved — and this team delivered with intention and heart.
Special mention belongs to Leire from 20 Eventos Wedding Planners, who created a stunning outdoor reception and dinner set under the open sky. The long tables, the light, the rhythm of the evening — everything felt effortless, elegant, and perfectly placed within the Basque landscape.
